Welcome to Dairy Health and Nutrition Initiative India Foundation

Indujaa Mahila Milk Producer Company Limited

When the Tata Trusts and National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) collaborated to launch milk producer companies, Yavatmal was chosen as one of the project locations. Tata Trust’s DHANII (Dairy Health and Nutrition Initiative India) and NDS (NDDB Dairy Services) facilitated the formation of the milk producer company.

However, unlike in other selected locations, Yavatmal had a very low potential to run a dairy business. With majority population comprising marginal and small farmers, selling milk for earning regular livelihood was something people would not even consider.

After spending a lot of time with the community, creating awareness about MPC and explaining the benefits to people, Indujaa Mahila Milk Producer Company was registered on 11th July 2018. The operations commenced on August 2018.

Growth and Impact

Indujaa has earned immense trust and goodwill in a short span of less than two years. With a humble beginning of launching operations in 33 villages with 696 women members, today there are ~15,000 members from 291 villages across Yavatmal, Washim, and Wardh districts.

However, Indujaa’s growth is much more than mere numbers. The biggest success is that it has made a meaningful difference in the lives of so many women, who are now dreaming big and marching ahead with confidence. A lot of efforts have been made towards the breed improvement programme and fodder promotion, along with making available cattle feed and mineral mixtures for balanced rationing.
